      What is Qi?

      Acupuncture and the Nervous System

I usually don't talk about "qi" because it is a foreign esoteric word and concept that I prefer to break down into something relatable. Ultimately, it is the electricity that our bodies naturally make. As we know, metal conducts electricity. And so acupuncture "rewires" a person's body by conducting the natural electricity of their nervous and circulatory systems.

When someone says that acupuncture "moves qi" or "gets qi flowing," this is essentially what they are saying.

Electricity is a chemical process, and so is acupuncture! Micro-gases, or extremely minute amounts of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen etc pool up on the acupuncture points. These pool up in specific combinations that have a chemical reaction with the metal of a needle. Acupuncture initiates nerve impulses and conduction of these gases along the meridians. Messaging sequences (to reduce inflammation, improve circulation, cool down an area, move what is blocked, stop bleeding, begin and end spasms, etc) course through our bodies, healing us up via our own nervous systems.

This is why acupuncture is so effective at treating so many different types of conditions and why it so effective at reducing pain. Come on in and get a session!
